Genuine 1970s Ringer Tee River Rats

This is the real deal—an original—not a reprint! Guaranteed! Does stretch so I’ll give a range of measurements ( smaller one is the flat measurement and the larger is the biggest it will stretch to): Measures 16 inches -19 inches across the shoulders, 38 inches -42 inches through the chest, 36 inches – 40 inches at the waist and length is 16 inches.  Fabric is cotton. Label reads (medium by Allison). Good condition with no holes or stains—has a 2 inch well-done repair on center back near the 1--has been worn and washed and is well broken-in but that just adds to the coolness factor. True colors are hot yellow-orange with dark red trim and black design. Front has (River Rats) and the back has 1.

Wallys Two Tone Striped 50s Sportster Shirt

While Beaver was sweating out his third grade spelling test, Wally was making the girls weak in the knees sporting this shirt to Algebra class. Measures 18 inches across the shoulders, 44 inches through the chest, 42 inches at the waist and length is 28 inches. Sleeves are 25 inches long from shoulder seam to cuff and 34.5 inches long from center of back of neck to cuff. Generously sized for a medium. Fabric is cotton, unlined. Label reads ”Arrow 15—15 1/2”. Good condition with no stains; does have the very minor fraying to the collar that you see in the close-up and the slightly more major fraying on the cuffs. True colors are light purplish-blue with sky blue and white trim; those strips are woven, not just printed on. Has loop for top button and one matched, patch pocket. Go, Daddy-O! Buttons down front, has square bottom.

Town Topic Swinging 1950s Rockabilly Shirt

1950s Campus Sweater Snowflakes Winter A Go Go

Measures 21” across the shoulders, 44” through the chest, 38” at the waist and length is 26”. Sleeves are 27” long from shoulder seam to cuff and 36.5” long from center of back of neck to cuff. Note that these are flat measurements and since this is a knit it will stretch a few inches larger. Fabric is orlon acrylic. Label reads ”Campus”. Excellent condition with no holes or stains. True colors are cadet blue and white. Has metal zipper down center front, ribbed waist and cuffs. It is marked a medium—size 40-42 but is generously sized.

1950s Rayon Gabardine Bowling Shirt  Crewel Embroidery

Measures 18.5”across the shoulders, 44” through the chest, 38” at the waist and length is 28.5”. Fabric is rayon gabardine, unlined. Label reads ”a Nat Nast creation”. Very good condition with a couple of minor flaws; has a ¼” fared spot at the very bottom of the hem at center back; some very minor fraying around a couple of the buttons and some very faint yellowing on the bottom edge of one pocket. True color is medium blue with black and gold crewel embroidery. Has loop for top button, two flap button-down patch pockets and shirttail hem. Great graphic on back features a derrick moving bowling pins; done in silk-screen, felt iron-on lettering and crewel embroidery.

1950s Yellow Grey Flecked Spring Shirt Top Stitching

Measures 19” across the shoulders, 48” through the chest, 46” at the waist and length is 28”. Sleeves are 21” long from shoulder seam to cuff and 32” long from center of back of neck to hem. Fabric is cotton. Label reads ”Sandy McDonald—it’s a Dan River fabric—16—L—16 1/2”. Excellent condition with no holes or stains, BUT someone has cut off the cuffs as you can see in the second photo. You can shove them up on your arms or roll them up. The hem is nicely done at least. True colors are pale yellow and light grey. Has two rounded patch pockets, topstitching on collar and pockets, loop for top button and square bottom.

1950s Rayon Hawaiian Shirt Matched Pocket Coconut Buttons

Measures 18” across the shoulders, 41” through the chest, 38” at the waist and length is 27”. Has one matched patch pocket, open collar and square bottom. Fabric is a very soft rayon. Label has been torn out. Good condition with a 1/8” frayed spot on top of the right shoulder; has some yellowing down center front which I’ve shown in the second photograph, but which is more apparent in person. True colors are medium blue and white.

Excellent condition with no holes or stains. True color is light blue. V-neck with button front; ribbed cuffs and waist.

1970s Coca-Cola Employee’s Shirt with Patches XL 

Measures 20” across the shoulders, 50” through the chest, 46” at the waist and length is 33.5”. Sleeves are 25” long from shoulder seam to cuff and 36” long from center of back of neck to cuff. Fabric is polyester/cotton blend. Label is mostly missing. Very good condition with a few teensy flaws; stitching on pocket is worn as you can see in the close-up, has a few pin-head sized spots and a snag on center back. Has some pilling on inside of collar. True colors are white with green stripe and white and red patches. Sewn-on front name patch, front Coke patch and back Coke patch. Has shirttail hem with two patch flap pockets, button down front.

Peugeot Cycles T-Shirt with Esso Emblem

This is the real deal—an original—not a reprint! Guaranteed! Does stretch slightly so I’ll give a range of measurements: Smallest measurement is flat measurement; largest one is the maximum the shirt will stretch to; it will fit anyone in between Measures16 ”-17.5” across the shoulders, 38”-40” through the chest, 38”- 40” at the waist and length is 28”.  Size marked on label is “L” for large, but go by measurements for best fit. Fabric is 100% polyester. Label reads ”Pro Action by Campus”. Good condition with no holes –has faded some from washing and there is slight, very slight, underarm yellowing, also has been repaired with black thread across shoulder seam but this is not very noticeable. Also a light brown smudge across the bottom front near the hem, about 4” long. True colors are white with black checks and red and gold stripe design. Front has “Cycles Peugeot ” and the left sleeve has the Esso emblem—printed on, not a patch.

1972 Polo Shirt with Apollo 17 Patch

1950s Dartmouth Letter Jacket Satin Reversible

Measures 19.5” across the shoulders, 46” through the chest, 36”-38” at the waist and length is 24”. Sleeves are 24” long from shoulder seam to cuff and 34” long from center of back of neck to cuff. Fabric is rayon satin and wool. No label. Poor condition ONLY with fraying and tearing to cuffs and collar, fraying of satin at waist, lining tearing at neck on stain side and ½” by ¾” hole on shoulder. I have taken close-ups of all the damage but if you have any questions about it, just let me know! True colors are forest green and cream. Has metal snaps on both sides –wool and satin—and has diagonal slash pockets on both sides as well. Dartmouth is done in wool felt letters sewn on back.

70s Tan Leisure Suit

Uncle Ernie picked out this dignified, yet sporty light tan leisure suit for his monthly jaunt to the Hackensack Old Geezer Massage Club.

 
The 4 button front jacket measures 19 1/2 inches across the shoulders, 46 inches in the chest, and is 34 1/2 inches long from neck to bottom hem.  The sleeves are 27 inches long with 10 inches from the shoulder seam to the back of the neck.  Light tan satin lining at the back shoulder yoke only.  Stylish contrasting faux bone buttons adorn the front and  the cuffs.  The whole sporty package is rounded out by the 70's signature contrast stitching and extra wide notched collar. The famous McGregor menswear manufacturer labeled this wash n wear heavy twill weave polyester suit as a size 46 Long. 

I think Uncle Ernie forgot to wash the jacket after he slid across a dirty park bench to hit on some blond dame in the park.  The light soil on the back should come out with a good washing of the super sturdy wash n wear poly.

The flared pants measure 37 inches at the waist, 44 inches from waist to the cuffs and 32 1/2 inches in the inseam.  There is enough fabric to let the waist out another inch and at least another inch in the cuffs. The 2 inch wide belt loops are ready for the all important wide white belt.  Add a pair of white 70s square toe loafers and the little old ladies will be bringing you more casseroles than you can eat.

Uncle Ernie got a little careless with his cigs and burnt a small match head sized hole in the inside right leg below the knee.  There is also a small pea sized spot on the other leg below the knee.  Cleaning recommended before wearing.

1970s Navy Leisure Suit

This is Uncle Ernie’s dressy leisure suit since it has such a fancy print lining and has to be dry cleaned.

The 4 button front jacket measures 18 inches across the shoulders, 46 inches in the chest, and is 32 inches long from neck to bottom hem.  The sleeves are 22 1/2 inches long with 10 inches from the shoulder seam to the back of the neck.  Fully lined in a nice rayon satin with blue and white geometric print.  Stylish contrasting faux bone buttons adorn the front and the cuffs.  The whole sporty package is rounded out by the 70's signature contrast stitching, extra wide notched collar and two front slash pockets below the cool chest flap pockets.  Labeled as a size 46.

The flared pants measure 40 inches at the waist, 39 ½ inches from waist to the cuffs and 29 inches in the inseam.  There is enough fabric to let the waist out another half inch and at least another 1 ½ inches in the cuffs. The 2 inch wide belt loops are ready for the all important wide white belt. 

Condition: Uncle Ernie kept this 100% polyester suit in tip top shape so its in excellent condition with no holes are stains.

 1970s Leisure Suit

Uncle Ernie figured he was irresistible in this outrageous hounds tooth print whenever he went trolling for rich widows aboard Caribbean cruise ships.  He had to beat them away with a shuffle board stick when he came on deck wearing his wide white belt and matching white faux gator loafers

   The 4 button front jacket measures 17 1/2 inches across the shoulders, 42 inches in the chest, and is 35 inches long from neck to bottom hem.  The sleeves are 26 1/2 inches long with 9 inches from the shoulder seam to the back of the neck.  Light grey nylon lining at the back shoulder yoke only.  Stylish faux bone buttons adorn the front, the two lower flap pockets and sleeve cuffs.  Has the 70's trademark "flying wing" notched lapel.  The famous LEVIS Panatela label is sewn in the neck and is labeled as an XL along with wash n wear instructions.
    The flared pants measure 36 inches at the waist, 42 1/2 inches from waist to the cuffs and 32 inches in the inseam.  There is not enough fabric to let the waist or cuffs out any further but if you suck it up, you might get in another inch into the waist.  Has 2 inch wide belt loops for your clunky white 70's belt. 
    Condition:  Uncle Ernie was careful not to spill any cruise ship food so this outstanding polyester leisure suit is in excellent condition with no holes or stains.  Washing recommended before wearing.

C. 1914 Tux Suit w/vest and pants

This suit was purchased from the same owner as a dated 1914 tail suit, so it is reasonable to assume it was made around the time.  

The dark mute green wool formal jacket measures 15 1/2 inches across the shoulders, 36 inches in the chest, and is 30 inches long from neck to the bottom of the tails.  The sleeves are 23 inches long with 8 inches from the shoulder seam to the back of the neck.  Fully lined in super fine subtly striped black silk with the sleeve lining in a cream colored silk.  The lower half of the notched lapel is a black on black stripe silk satin, while the upper portion that runs around the neck is wool and trimmed in the same striped silk.  The jacket front has a one covered button closure, two front flap pockets and the sleeve cuffs are trimmed in the same striped silk.  The inside breast pocket has the tailor's label, Strouse & Bros., Highart Clothing, Baltimore Md., in which the owner's name and date was handwritten in pencil, which has since faded.  
Several flaws should be called on the jacket.  The shoulders have light fading from storage in a closet, ( see the jacket close-up ), and there are several minor quarter inch or less splits in the fine silk of the lapel.  Otherwise in excellent condition with no moth holes.
The black wool bib-front 4 button vest measures 33 inches in the chest, 31 inches at the waist and 22 inches from neck to the peak at the bottom.  Has 2 functional diagonal slash pockets and an adjustable silk satin belt at the lower back.  The back panel is a fine grade of black silk satin.  The old polished cotton lining has yellowed with age, (see close-up), and perspiration.  With the exception of the lining stains, in excellent condition with no moth holes or rips in the silk back.  Please note: Although this set was purchased together as you see it, and since the vest is of a different size, there is some question as to whether it is original to the suit.  Therefore, it is sold as is.

The wool plain front pants measure 30 inches at the waist, 40 inches from waist to the cuffs and 28 1/2 inches in the inseam.  The 5 button fly has a cross over piece for the top closure.  Has the traditional black silk satin stripe trim, 2 side vertical slash pockets, 2 back horizontal slash pockets, original buttons for the suspenders and watch pocket.  In excellent condition with no moth holes or stains.

1977 Indy 500 Racing Windbreaker

Measures 20.5” across the shoulders, 50” through the chest, 46” at the waist (maximum—can be made smaller by pulling in the drawstring) and length is 28”. Sleeves are 25” long from shoulder seam to cuff and 35” long from center of back of neck to cuff. Fabric is nylon. Label reads “Aristo Jac by Hilton”. Very good  condition with no holes; has very faint yellowing on front in about a 2” area and a short pen mark—nothing serious—see close-up. True colors are black and white of course : ) Has metal snaps up front, drawstring around bottom hem to adjust fit and elastic on cuffs. Name on right side is embroidered; design on left side is printed.

1950s Spring Wool and Silk Mans Suit 

Jacket measures 17.5 " across the shoulders, 42" through the chest, 38" at the waist and length is 30". Sleeves are 23" long from shoulder seam to cuff and 32" long from center of back of neck to cuffs. Jacket has 3 button front, center back vent, breast pocket, two flap pockets, and narrow lapel. Pants measure 33" at the waist (with another inch to let out if needed), 42" through the hips, inseam is 28" long and outside seam is 38.5" long. Leg opening is 9.5" in diameter. There's nothing to let out of the hem of the pants unless you take the cuffs out . I always recommend going by the outside seam to judge length on vintage pants as they fit very -differently than modern pants. Pants have metal zipper,  double pleated front,  watch pocket, side pockets and two back pockets, and 1.75” cuffs. Fabric is wool/silk blend. Label reads "Meis Bros.". Fair condition with no holes in jacket; needs a cleaning and pants’ cuffs are worn, also pants have 4 separate 1/8” to ¼” holes in seat. True color is medium brownish-grey streaked with a darker grey.

1950s Italian Tweedy Wool Suburban Coat 

Measures 19” across the shoulders, 46” through the bust, 44” at the waist and length is 34”. Sleeves are 26”long from shoulder seam to cuff and 37” long from center of back of neck to cuff. Fabric is wool with rayon and wool lining. Label reads ”the Thunderbird coat” and “IL Contientale-woven in Italy”. Very good condition with a few small flaws; has a bit of repair needed on the edge of two of the buttonholes; very minor; the leather covers on the sleeves buckles are partially worn off and the seam to the inside of one of the sleeves is open (as you can see in the photo) –this can be fixed of course. 1940s Mens Rayon Print Pajamas Aloha Shirt Style Print

Top measures 21” across the shoulders, 46” through the chest, 46” through the waist and length is 29”. Sleeves are 23.5” long from shoulder seam to cuff and 36” long from center of back of neck to cuff. Bottoms measure from 34” to 42" at the waist, 48" through the hips, inseam is 28.5” long and outside seam is 44.5" long. Leg opening is 9" in diameter. I always recommend going by the outside seam to judge length on vintage pants as they fit very -differently than modern pants. Both pieces have button closures. Fabric is medium weight rayon, unlined. Label reads ” Manhattan ”. Good condition with some faint yellowing here and there which is hard to spot on the print and should come out with cleaning and about 5 separate holes in the pants; each 1/8” or smaller. See close-up photos. The holes are on the outside of the pant legs about halfway down. True colors are tomato red, light grey and white.

1950s Rayon Mans Paisley Print Robe

Measures 18” across the shoulders, 40” through the chest, 32” at the waist, 38” through the hips and length is 43”. Hand painted hidden nude w/flowers

Wonderful late 40s belly warmer measuring 53 inches long by 4 1/4 inches wide.  100% silk fabric.  Hand painted green and orange flowers cleverly disguise a stylized nude diving girl amid an air-brushed brown background.  Label reads L. Strauss & Co, a well known Indianapolis upscale haberdashery.  Printed in the lining is the seal of the tie designers, California Exotics by Las, Los Angeles .  “The golden tie”, hand painted on pure dye silk.  Excellent condition with no holes or stains.  A true rarity for the discriminating tie collector.

1940’s “Deuces Wild” Red Poker Tie

Measures 52 inches long by 3 3/4 inches wide at the widest point.  Dull gold and light grey playing cards and poker chips are printed on a uniform red background.  Fabric is a fine drapey silk.  Tagged on the back, "L.S. Ayres & Co. Indianapolis, All Silk.  Also printed on the tie, “Deuces Wild.”  Except for a very tiny pin prick hole near the bottom, in excellent condition with no stains.

Marked size 7 . Natural Panama straw with black, gold and charcoal striped grosgrain ribbon band; leather sweatband. Crown is 4.5” tall, brim is 2” wide. Very good condition with no breaks in straw; has light water spot on ribbon in front; stripes help to hide this and could use a streaming to reshape it a bit. Nothing serious. No lining in crown.
